"NECO Registrar Pledges Zero Tolerance for Exam Malpractices in 2023"

      During the commencement of the 2023 Senior School Examinations, the Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Dantani Wushishi, pledged that the council will no longer tolerate behaviours jeopardizing their examinations' credibility, such as examination malpractices.      Speaking to journalists in Jos after touring several schools to monitor the current SSCE examinations in Plateau State, Wushishi said, "We have earlier visited other states and interacted with pivotal members. Thus far, the examination has been running as planned in all locations visited. There haven't been any significant issues concerning the examination's conduct." He added.     According to Wushishi,delivering the materials from their end has been smooth and the 2023 examination can be touted as the most successful. NDIC Engages Plateau Students on Financial Literacy

 In a proactive effort aligned with its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has conducted a financial literacy program for secondary school students in Plateau State.        The exercise aimed to encourage students to develop a mindset of saving and was carried out as part of the celebration of 2023 Financial Literacy Day. The event was held at the Jos North Area Office hall with students from various secondary schools attending. The theme of this fourth edition of the training was “Plan Your Money, Plant Your Future”.  In an address to the students, the Deputy Manager and Media relations officer, Mr Alfred Ijah, explained that NDIC has been actively educating students about the value of efficient savings and money management. APC Plateau State Celebrates Simon Lalong's Ministerial Nomination

  The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has celebrated Simon Lalong, the state's immediate past governor, over his nomination as a minister. The nomination was made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lalong's name, along with 18 others, was forwarded to the Senate by Presidential Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.  The president had earlier released the list of 28 prospective ministers who had already been screened and confirmed. The APC chairperson in Plateau State, Hon. Rufus Bature, welcomed the nomination, tagging it as "well-deserved". Plateau Labor Union Joins Nationwide Against Government Anti-Citizen Policies

  The Plateau State labor organizations in Nigeria, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), joined a nationwide protest against anti-citizen federal government policies on Wednesday.  Starting at Secretariat Junction, then progressing to the State Secretariat gate, a multitude of unionists took part in the peaceful demonstration. State NLC Chairman, Comrade Eugine Manji, Civil Liberty Organisation's Comrade Steve Aluko, along with other labor leaders, took the lead. Manji addressed the protesters, emphasizing the unity of Plateau workers against policies disadvantaging the poor.  He specifically addressed the unpopular removal of fuel subsidy and the subsequent exponential hike in pump prices. Shendam LGA Chairman Donates Relief Materials to Displaced Persons

 Shendam Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Kemi Nicholas Nshe, donated relief materials worth millions of Naira to internally displaced persons in Mangu Local Government, Plateau State. These people were displaced due to suspected attacks by Fulani herdsmen between May and July 2023. The attacks resulted in hundreds of deaths, mostly women and children, with properties and farmlands destroyed. During the donation, Hon. Nshe expressed solidarity and sympathy with the affected community, acknowledging the importance of food aid during such hardships. The relief materials included 700 tubers of yams, bags of rice, garri, sugar, palm oil, and crates of eggs.        Poetry Can Be  Instrumental in Resolving Nigeria's Issues and Promote Global Harmony, says Prof Doki         Professor Jeff Doki, who is a Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Jos, recently shared his perspectives on how poetry can effectively foster peace during turbulent times in Nigeria and globally. He stressed that, unlike sciences, poetry profoundly connects with human emotions, intuition, and imagination.  Professor Doki, also the Head of the English Department at UNIJOS, conveyed these influential ideas during his 107th inaugural lecture, titled 'Poetry and Global Peace'.
